Located near Madison, WI, this barn was constructed using reclaimed heavy timber components. The structure features private conference spaces and an open display kitchen that allows for in-house demonstrations of cooking and food preparation. An outdoor kitchen satisfies a similar demonstration program at the building exterior. A root cellar and vegetable wash-down area allow the professional chefs to harvest and store foods that are grown and cultivated in the field adjacent to the building site. The design employs forms and materials that recall the traditional construction found on farms within the central Wisconsin region.
