This 90-acre farm located along the rolling hills of Michigan with the main home set atop a hill overlooking farm land and vineyards is a nod to the clients English upbringing. In creating a working farm as a welcoming and luxurious experience for hosting family and friends easily and relaxing in the countryside, prioritizing connections and access to nature while honoring the existing landscape to the greatest extent possible were essential.
The project included a main house, guesthouse, greenhouse, multiple barns, a pool and pool house, and 3.5 acre pond with a floating gazebo. The main house echoed the flow of a traditional farmhouse by creating a rambling layout leading residents progressively through shared spaces. Each living space offers a direct connection to the outdoors, achieved by a terrace that continued to the great lawn. Most essential to the design team was creating an elevated experience across the entire property, ensuring a sense of cohesion and thoughtfulness in each space.
